When Nintendo announced Fire Emblem: Awakening at E3, we had a feeling that the game was going to be huge.
Apparently Nintendo didn't share our faith, as it seems to have not shipped enough quantities to keep up with online orders.
In the US, a host of online retailers (Amazon.com, Target.com, Gamestop.com) all report that the 3DS strategy RPG is out-of-stock, with Amazon citing "manufacturer shipping delays".
This shortage only seems to apply to online orders, however.
A search of the Target website showed ample stock in most locations (with a few reporting limited stock or out-of-stock), and a phone call to the Nintendo World Store confirmed they had plenty of copies available at its location in Rockefeller Center.
Bellum bellum bellum
Gamestop.com, conversely, reports that no stores within a 100 mile radius of New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, or Chicago are currently stocking the title, a fact that was confirmed both over the phone and in-person.
Several Gamestop employees that we spoke with indicated that the release date of February 4 was incorrect and their stores will not receive stock until Friday, February 8.
Of course, if you're having no luck finding the game in your local stores you can always download it from Nintendo's eShop - the title went live for download in North America on Monday.
Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released in Europe and the UK this April.
